Pieter Athmer - director of theatre
Pieter Athmer is a theatre director and dramaturg, who specialises in (live)music-theatre and comedy. He learned the trade from well known Dutch directors such as Gerardjan Rijnders, and from working with famous Dutch comedians Mini & Maxi.
Over the past fifteen years Pieter has worked on countless theatre productions, collaborating with some of the best people in the field, but also with other artists such as writer/poet Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer, the classical Ensemble Caméléon, dancegroup Conny Janssen Danst, and television improv-stars the Lamas. He also directed a show featuring 90 Frisian horses, performed in the presence of H.M. the Queen of Holland.
In 2008-2009 he committed himself to helping Jos Thie start up a new, main theatre group in the centre of Holland called De Utrechtse Spelen, and played a major part in the succes of their first performance, Molière's Hypochondriac.
His most recent production, now touring the Netherlands, is The Gentleman Entertainer, a onemanshow by comedian Tijl Beckand.
