Pieter Athmer - director of theatre

Pieter Athmer is a theater director and dramaturg, specializing in (live)music-theatre and comedy.  He learned the trade from well known Dutch directors like Gerardjan Rijnders, as well as from working with famous Dutch comedians Mini & Maxi.

Over the past fifteen years Pieter has worked on countless theatre productions, collaborating with some of the best people in the field, but also with other artists such as writer/poet Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer, the classical Ensemble Caméléon, dancegroup Conny Janssen Danst, and comedy-illusionists Scott & Muriel. He directed a show for H.M. the Queen of Holland featuring 90 horses.

Last season he committed himself fully to helping Jos Thie start up a new, main theatre group in the centre of Holland called De Utrechtse Spelen, and played a major part in the succes of their first performance, Molière's Hypochondriac.

Recently he entered a new field, namely that of improvisation theatre, when he directed television favourites Tijl Beckand, Ruben van der Meer and Ruben Nicolai in their currently touring show Club Melchior.
